TGR THE BEND | DAY 2

An early start here in Tailem Bend just over 100kms South East from the states capital of Adelaide. As the sun rose, the sound of 32 Porsche GT3 Cup Cars started to warm their engines before taking to the track at 7:25am local time for their qualifying session, a tricky time of the day in any case, but with cooler temps and a damp track it certainly had the crew of many on their toes.

Tyler impressed early sitting in pole position, as well as second and third for almost all of the qualifying session before a last lap dash in the dying moments saw Tyler drop to tenth position.

"We knew we had the pace, but we didn't run a second green set of tyres and in the end that was the difference, but we have them for racing" said Greenbury

With qualifying complete and feedback given (something Tyler is commended on from his team) there was some minor changes made to the Edge Designer Homes #6 car before race one took place.

Race one was chaotic to say the least, yellow flags and a car spinning forcing Tyler to react quickly to avoid a collision meant Greenbury was forced to fight back to gain positions - Tyler now with front end damage and difficulty with steering had the challenge of passing cars and despite challenges, made his way back up to his starting position of 10th.

Day one showcased all that motorsport is about, resilience, dedication and getting elbows up and head down when it counts, something Tyler instills in his drivers throughout the ranks.

With two races left to contest including the 45 minute race early tomorrow morning the team is going into Sunday feeling confident in the car and with goals to move the GT3 Cup Car from tenth further up the field.

Whilst contesting Round two here at Tailem Bend, Tyler is out of the car and onto the phone checking in on his karting team who this weekend are in Emerald for the Australian Kart Championship - the first night race of the national racing calendar.

With the logistics of sending one transporter south and one north the work was certainly put in ahead of time to prep and ensure that everyone was across the plan, filling in for Tyler in Emerald is none other than Pete Greenbury, the man who taught Tyler everything he knows and helped him achieve over 30 combined National and State titles in his karting career. "I ensured all of the drivers, he taught me everything I know so they are in good hands"

Despite spending most of his time off track glued to the live timing from Emerald or on the phone, when its time for Tyler to suit up, he is completely focused on the task at hand, his ability to be completely immersed in both events is commendable.

It takes more than one to make weekends like this achievable, from the TGR mechanics, engineers, crew, families, Mum's and Dads, be it a lot of effort or little from each and every one of you it allows us all to go racing and do what we love. Karting although not a team sport as such takes a team to ensure that each driver hits the track on time and in a well prepped kart/car.

Roles models are something we all have, in all aspects of life, but as a young up and coming Karter, to see your driver coach and team owner, fighting for pole in a Porsche GT3 Cup Car at one of Australia's most prestigious circuits certainly showcases the path that Tyler is creating being one of the only karting teams who can take drivers from karts to cars within his own operation.

Tyler Greenbury Racing will never stop chasing development or wanting to be better, the focus continues to be on finding the top step in races and as a team across all categories, TGR is heading in the right direction.

We send our thoughts to Cooper who was involved in a horrifying crash last night with our driver Hamish in Emerald, Hamish was back at the track today hoping for a drive with minor bruising and soreness and Cooper is spending another night in Emerald hospital for observation with a broken nose and ankle, we wish you a speedy recovery Cooper and look forward to seeing you on track again soon.
